Far From Babylon: The Last Iraqi Jews
Monday, June 16th, 2014
The story of the Iraqi diaspora. The fairytale life of the Jews in Baghdad, a life of balls, picnics and an economy going through the roof. The beautiful life disintegrates under a series of increasingly punitive regimes while Iraq is battered by coups and wars. Family by family, they managed to escape. All were gone by 1974 when Saddam, the worst in the succession of murderous leaders, was secure in power. Now all the characters play volleyball together on Monday nights, in central London.
